Viva Magenta- Pantone Color of the Year

The new year begins with Pantone’s announcement of a new Color of the Year, Viva Magenta 18-1750.  This brings to a close the year of Veri Peri 17-3938, a dynamic periwinkle blue with vibrant violet undertones that sought to evoke the blue light of our online digital lives.  Juxtaposed against this digital blue, Viva Magenta returns us to nature via a red family descending from one of the most precious and strongest natural dyes in the world.  To Pantone, this exuberant red shade pulsates with vim and vigor and promotes joyous and optimistic celebration. Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman notes that Viva Magenta, “is rooted in the primordial and reconnects us to original matter.  It Invokes the forces of nature and galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength.”
