Balenciaga x Simpsons

Balenciaga has created one of the most unexpected creative collaborations of the year.  One month ago, they became the first luxury fashion brand to create a digital fashion line within a video game.  Balenciaga’s Fornite collaboration made it possible for players to buy Balenciaga fashion skins for their digital avatars within the game while also allowing consumers to buy Fortnite branded clothing in real life on its website. 

This month, the creative team at Balenciaga did it again.  They became the first luxury fashion brand to present a new collection via an animated movie featuring The Simpsons.  The film highlighted popular Simpson’s characters opening the Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2022 in a Paris Fashion Week runway show.  The highlights of the animated runway included Marge Simpson in a golden ballroom dress, Homer Simpson in an oversized red puffer jacket, Maggie and Lisa Simpson in red crushed velvet jersey gowns and the twins Sherri and Terri in turtleneck dresses in bonded velvet.  The animated movie is just another example fashion brands pushing their creativity to reach a wider audience and make a larger cultural impact.  Balenciaga’s Simpsons collaboration is a definite winner.
