Milan Fashion Week 2021 marked a beginning of a return to normalcy in the fashion industry as live runway shows once again took center stage last month in Italy.  Leading fashion brands presented their exciting Spring/Summer 2022 collections and included Prada, Fendi, Versace and many others.  Milan Fashion Week is always a great place to identify the next year’s trends, and this year was no different.  At whowhatwhere.com, they noted the growing pelvic-cutout trend with Versace providing prime examples.  They also celebrated the emergence of triangle bras, micro-mini skirts, oversized blazers, and the extensive use of crochet.  Check out the full article in the link.

Not to be outdone, Vogue also got into the act and spotlighted the beauty trends from Milan Fashion Week’s “big party.”  These hairstyling trends included the use of poker-straight hair, hair styles with middle parts, hair glitter, and the use of head scarves.  Make-up trends included ubiquitous lip gloss and green eye shadow.  Bustle was also on hand to put their spin on the beauty trends from the event.  They focused on slicked back hair, side parts with head bands, 80’s glam hair and make-up looks, neon eye-liner, frosty eyes, berry lip stick, hair and body glitter, and face jewelry.  Check out the links for the full articles.

Finally, WWD zoomed in on the accessory trends from Milan.  They proclaimed: “Platforms and dainty high-heeled sandals were everywhere, often embellished with shiny details and crystals, for women ready to go out and party. Bags were generally structured, carefully crafted and also enriched by stones and handmade details. Sustainability remains an increasingly key priority as brands evolve to include upcycled or recycled materials.” According to WWD, iconic footwear from the week, were Sergio Rossi’s hot pink, chunky-heeled, jeweled, platform sandal and Gianvito Rossi’s (no relation) electric blue, stiletto-heeled, pointy-toed, platform sandal.  In bags, WWD highlighted Bulgari’s Serpenti jewelry box bag which was inspired from their 1920’s collection and Furla’s brightly colored Re-Candy bag which is the new sustainably manufactured rendition of their popular, now 10-year-old, Candy bag.
