Earlier this month, Paris Fashion Week 2021 returned to live runway shows, and the biggest fashion brands like Givenchy, Lanvin, Balenciaga, Hermes and others presented their exciting Spring/Summer 2022 collections.  During the week, Balmain was able to celebrate Olivier Rousteing’s 10th anniversary at its helm as creative director with a 6,000-person public event.  Balenciaga was at its avant-garde best opening their show with “The Simpson’s” animated runway show movie.

At whowhatwhere.com, they discussed some of the leading trends from the collections.  They noted the preppy fashion revival, suit combinations in bold colors, maxi silhouettes, catsuits (especially with cut-outs), barely-there sheer pieces, sequins, and sculptural silhouettes.  The Evening Standard also highlighted the cut-out trends, micro-mini skirts & dresses, bright colors, boxy-shouldered jackets and relaxed athleisure looks.  Bustle’s trend analysis included metallics, sequins, voluminous tulle, catsuits, mushroom toile, bright cut-outs, mixed media, and 1960’s mod.

Vogue spotlighted the hair and beauty trends from the week.  In make-up, shimmering eye shadow, “punkish” eyeliner in bright colors, and shiny & textured lips (sequins & high-shine glass) dominated the runways.  In hair, wet looks and fantasy hair dye colors made their imprints.  The drama came from Schiaparelli’s exaggerated long gold-plated nails.  Allure also focused on the hair and make-up looks that they loved the most.  They noted Loewe’s pink hair, Acne Studio’s sequined lips, Chloe’s orange eye liner, Rochas’ squiggly eye underliner & baby braids, Courreges’ thick-and-thin eye liner, Koche’s spiked liner and updo hair, Dior’s double wing eye liner, Victoria/Tomas’ terracotta eye shadow, Kenneth Ize’s creative gold make-up even included gold-foil nose, and Weinsanto included hot pink eyes and lips.  Harper’s Bazaar highlighted the innovative heels from Loewe and the jewelry covered handbags from Schiaparelli.
