Milan Fashion Week Sept 2021

MFW MILAN

Milan Fashion Week successfully completed last week. It’s run from Sept. 21 to 27 showcased some of the most intriguing fashion in the world and highlighted collections from most of the leading Italian fashion houses. Most importantly, it was the perfect opportunity for the fashion industry to return to a small bit of normalcy after more than a year of interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As restrictions on public events have slowly lifted, the fashion world has returned to live runway shows. At Milan Fashion Week, 42 out of the total of 65 runway shows were presented live and in-person. This after over a year of digital only shows. Some of the leading fashion brands provided in-person shows including: Prada, Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Versace, Missoni, Salvatore Ferragamo, Marni, Max Mara, Alberta Ferretti, and Etro. Even though Milan Fashion Week marked the return to live runway shows in Italy, digital still has an important role to play with 23 digital shows included in the presentation. For example, Emilio Pucci, Dsquared2, and Philipp Plein provided digital only shows. Digital presentations also proved to be a great benefit for smaller, growing brands that don’t have the budget for a full live presentation like Thomas Van M, by Vel, and Turtlehorn.
